Kazakhstan: National Bank advances payments and SupTech cooperation
On 11 September 2026, the National Bank of Kazakhstan announced digital finance cooperation agreements signed at Central Asia Fintech Summit in Almaty.
A memorandum with VEON and KaR-Tel covers payment services and infrastructure, including exploring a first-category payment organisation licence. Separately, the National Bank’s Digital Development Centre and Alatau City Authority agreed to examine digital solutions, artificial intelligence and the SupTech supervisory platform.
Projects and a roadmap are to be developed. Signing the memorandums does not itself confirm a licence or completed implementation.
